How is it already the second weekend in July? I feel like the older I get the faster time passes and this summer is no exception. Jeez. Are you feeling the same way?
I actually lived in Los Angeles for 7 years and because of my mid-west upbringing I found it very odd for every day to be 72 degrees and sunny. I think that seasons give us a clear marking of the passage of time. Change of weather makes me think about what I was doing this time last year. It’s good to just take note and pay attention to your life and if it’s moving in a direction that is positive. It’s good to check in and make sure you are on track financially. Its good to check in and make sure your career is on track and you are feeling passionate about your work. It’s good to take note and make sure you are growing as a human being. With each new season, take the time to check in with yourself.
For me, each season also has it’s own vibe. And for me, summer is a time for the beach, walks along Lake Michigan, hanging out at outdoor cafes by day and drinking at rooftops by night. Even though my work life doesn’t change in the summer, it feels a bit more relaxed. Summer is a time to chill and not worry too much or take life too seriously. It’s time to take a little break. At least in my opinion. #vibe
Of course, I also recommend being laid back when it comes to romance. Have a summer fling or two! I have written about this before, “I think summer is an excellent time to have a few flings for sure. Yes, I am talking about sex. There is not better time or season to give yourself permission to throw caution to the wind and party like a rock star AND have as many orgasms as possible.”, and my thoughts from then still stand today. I was actually texting with a guy I matched with on Bumble and he was agreeing with me that summer is for fun, then you need to “lock it down” before winter. I laughed hard when he texted that but agree 100%. Summer in climates where we have seasons feels very carefree, but in winter you need a lover to snuggle up with! It gets cold people. Two words: body heat. Oh, and one more: orgasms 🙂
Last weekend, on my joint blog with sex educator extraordinaire and women’s erotica store owner, Cheryl Sloane, we talked about Summer Sex. Cheryl said, “When you meet somebody new in the summer it’s all about late nights, long walks, outdoor cafes, outdoor concerts, the woods, the pool, the beach. And sex just about anywhere, anytime. I mean try taking your clothes off in the woods on a Chicago January day. Quite a few sunburns happened from not wanting to leave that beach blanket. (I have to remember that a sunscreen massage can be nice too).” Cheryl and I do tend to agree!
Cheers to a fun summer!
